Letrice: I've been going to Dr. Smith for many years. He is always very professional, personable, friendly and truly cares about how I am doing as a person. He explains all the eye exams so I know exactly what the tests are looking for. He is also happy to explain answers to my questions. I've been seeing Dr. Smith -- following him to at least 3 locations! -- since I first got glasses when I was nine years old, and I'm 33 now! He remains as kind, patient, informative, friendly and helpful as he's always been, and his staff is also all the same! They'll explain each test and procedure to you, be flexible about what you do and don't want/need to have done at each appointment, help you choose the best frames for your glasses or the best type of lenses for your contacts... And if you've got insurance coverage, they'll explain what's covered, too! Always a great experience, which is why I'm still going to him, even though I live in LA now.

I concur with all of the positive comments from previous reviewers and would not consider going to any other doctor or facility. Both Dr. Smith and the office staff are wonderful!

My wife & I have been going to Dr. Smith for 30 years and fully trust his knowledge and professionalism on eye care. We drive from the lower Alpine area all the way to San Diego which takes us about 45 minutes, just to see him. We could go to anyone else much closer to us, but we feel Dr. Smith is the Dr. we can trust more than anyone else. Also we love to see Nancy the Eye glass technician, who does everything to tighten, clean and fix our glasses. Nancy is so nice !

I concur with the other reviews that Dr. Smith and his staff are very professional, friendly, and caring about who you are. I've been a patient of Dr. Smith for over 10 years and he has always been thorough with my concerns and remembers my prior visits and conversations about the family. He never rushes to get going and now that he only works once a week I hope to schedule in advance in the future to make sure I can still get an appointment with him. Nancy also helps me decide what eyeglasses with options to choose in a very professional manner and she is very responsive to my concerns as well.

I wouldn't have gone there every year, now, for close to 20 years, if I didn't like, trust and appreciate Dr. Smith (and, of course, Nancy, too), as well as the very friendly, competent and professional staff. (Geez - that means way back when they were on 4th Avenue, then 5th, then 1st, and back on 4th again. You couldn't get treated any better anywhere else. Sez it all. Ron D.

I've been going to Dr. Smith annually for 17 years. Now I am bringing my daughter. Like other reviewers, I have always been impressed with Dr. Smith's professionalism and ability to make it seem like you are the only patient he has to see on your appointment day -- taking time to chat about your life, remembering details of your job. It is the reason I've stayed with him through four office moves. But I feel like the experiences during my last two visits at the building on the corner of 4th & Walnut, warrant a quick note. My wait time before being seen by the optometric assistant and then by Dr. Smith himself was much longer than prior visits. It's fun to have time to look at glasses and sunglasses, but I feel we had an unusually long wait. This was made more confusing as I saw Dr. Smith walking around to different parts of the showroom floor, straightening up. Perhaps the fact that I was trying to entertain a toddler (instead of reading my Kindle) while waiting for Dr. Smith, made me more aware of the longer wait time. But in the past, I was usually seen within 15 minutes of my appointment time. During my daughter's most recent appointment, our wait was 30 minutes! The appointment itself was brief, as my toddler had her eyes checked, and Dr. Smith had a few tricks to keep her focused on the task. But I write this review in the hopes that someone in the office will read it and will bring the long wait time to the attention of Dr. Smith.

I wouldn't consider going to anyone else! Dr. Smith and all of the staff are great to work with and highly competent! When I had an eye problem a few years ago that was outside of the work Dr. Smith does, he referred me immediately, with a personal call, to the appropriate doctor. He's the best!

I have been a patient of Dr, Phil Smith since he arrived here and joined Dr. Jerry Lieblein: and I started my affiliation with his practice in 1960. Dr, Lieblein was always on the cutting edge of optometry! Dr, Smith continues that way of practice today. My husband Larry and I have always been confident that either Dr. would take excellent care of us and our "eventual" family with 6 children. They also took care of Larry's parents and 2 brothers. I started seeing Dr. Smith in 1972 when he was in Mission Valley Center and just starting out with his practice. Over those 45 years he has always provided thorough and consistently excellent care. He is immensely personable and it's always great to visit with him on a personal level. I couldn't give anyone a higher recommendation - he is tops.

I have been seeing Dr. Smith for years and would never see anyone else! He pays attention to detail and always gives a thorough examination and never rushes. His office is gorgeous and all of the staff are excellent. They go out of their way to accommodate you - have gotten me my contacts immediately when I needed them. Fantastic Doctor, who has found the sweet spot for my vision and today he managed find my missing contact lens...in my eye socket! What a relief and so thankful for Dr Smith's patience and care!

Hello, My husband,Sydney Stewart and I (Marilyn) saw Dr. Smith for an eye examination today and we both wish we could give him way more than 5 stars!!. He is sharp, friendly and made us feel very welcome at In-Vision. He definitely has two new patients. I also took some of the business cards as I want to share them with my friends and co-workers so they too can feel the same support,and first class service that Dr. Smith demonstrates. We feel the same about the other staff who all are part of the great package you get at In-Vision.

I have been a patient of Dr Smith for well over 20 years and he has always been attentive to my vision needs and answers any questions I have. This last visit was especially enjoyable with the latest in Optometry technology being deployed during my examination with full explanation of the health of my eyes discussed with me so I understand. I am very pleased with my visit overall and Dr Smith's professional handling, as always, of my routine examination visit.
